More later, but the first guy to test drive my Sable offered to buy it for full price after driving it around the block and putting in to reverse a few times... He’s allegedly getting the cash from the bank now. I drove home because it’s cold and I remain skeptical and other details to be revealed later.
It was a very surreal experience.

You are glass half empty here ... I think it just might work out.

He said he was going to call back an hour ago with cash in hand. Oh I am so aggravated. He was very stern about “no bullshit” and not wasting his time, and then showed up without cash in hand... So now he’s about wasted an entire evening of MY time.

I wonder why people pull this bullshit. I had a series of phone calls regarding a Nikkor zoom lens I had for sale, and the guy said he was coming with cash. Hours later I got him on the phone, and he did the equivalent of a shrug over the phone. Asshole didn’t bother to explain.

Yep just got the “changed my mind” text 5 minutes ago. He was so aggressive. Don’t sell that out from under me! I’m getting the cash! Lol nvm

Time to play games with him now. How about “we had a verbal agreement/come get your car” text? If he doesn’t get it by midnight he will incur a $50 a day storage fee?

Fuck all that. I had shitty vibes about him the moment we first spoke. I should have trusted my gut and for now I will cut my losses, in this case being my time.

At least you got a call.
When I sold my ‘88 Camry wagon 5M, the price was around $6,800 - more or less fair value. I sold the car in advance of going to law school. Within 2 hours of the paper (that’s how you did it back then) landing on front lawns, a Hispanic guy with a cleaning business called and said he’d be anywhere I wanted with 7 grand in cash to make sure he got it. I said list price was fine.
We met at my mom’s house, and he put 7 grand in my hand, said he wanted to give it to me for holding it for him - I’d had about 20 calls after his (apparently I priced the car right). Similar experience when I sold my CRX Si, but the Camry buyer was better than his word.

Depends on the laws of the state you’re in - in some states, contracts over a certain amount or for a particular thing or task have to be in writing. Not that the guy knows that ....
